Peanut Butter PAC supported candidate Elaine Marshall wins her runoff in NC!

26 Jun

Well, this is a happy moment – last month, we gave $250 to Elaine Marshall, and she won her runoff primary vote against Cal Cunningham! See her victory lap here at DailyKos:

http://elaine-marshall.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/6/23/878610/-NC-Sen:-We-did-it!

Not only did she win the right to send Richard Burr to an early retirement, but she’s surging in the polls, the race is a virtual dead heat at this point, according to Rasmussen:

Great news!!!

Help Peanut Butter PAC run this ad

17 May

For several years, I’ve been wanting to run this ad to try and change a few minds of the NIMBY folks when it comes to windmills, and British Petroleum’s oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has given me the perfect graphic with which to do so. Click below to see two versions of the ad – first, the full-size image for a half-page newspaper ad:

And a smaller 11″ x 8.5″ ad for printing on your home computer:

Print it and hand it out to your friends, or better yet, email it to them – please send us a working capital donation so we can spread this message far and wide!

Update: I found a slightly better picture of the gulf catastrophe, so I’ve changed out that photo in these two version:

Peanut Butter PAC’s first award: And the winner is…

11 May

…Bill Halter! It was neck and neck between Halter and Sestak, but Halter won by two votes in the end! A $250 donation will be winging it’s way to the Halter campaign coffers shortly – I’ve asked the question over at ActBlue if we can use Peanut Butter PAC’s ActBlue page to make the donation, once I hear back I’ll either make the donation there or I’ll contact the campaign directly.

Our next award will be at the end of May. For this reason, we are going to exclude candidates with a June primary from consideration – we want our money to go to candidates who will have a significant chance to use it to good effect. This is going to become one of the by-laws of our organization when we list out the candidate selection process more formally.

Towards that end, we are going to conduct another vote immediately, so that we don’t miss out on some awesome June primaries. Read on for our remaining candidate list…

In the Senate:

Barbara Boxer(California Senate) primary date: 6/8
Paul Hodes (New Hampshire Senate) primary date: 9/14
Rodney Glassman (Arizona Senate) primary date: 8/24
Roxanne Conlin (Iowa Senate) primary date: 6/8
Kirsten Gillibrand (New York Senate) primary date: 9/14

And in the House:

Alan Grayson (Florida 8th) primary date: 8/24
Carol Shea-Porter(New Hampshire 1st) primary date: 9/14
Craig Pridemore (Washington 3rd) primary date: 8/17
Jim McGovern (Massachusetts 3rd) primary date: 9/14
Mac D’Allesandro (Massachusetts 9th) primary date: 9/14
John Hall(New York 19th) primary date: 9/14
Keith Ellison (Minnesota 5th) primary date: 8/10
Marcy Winograd (California 36th) primary date: 6/8
Sheila Smoot (Alabama 7th) primary date: 6/1
Tarryl Clark (Minnesota 6th) primary date: 8/10
Tom Perriello (Virginia 5th) primary date: 6/8

We will likely have an update later today with a few additions to that list – I’ve taken the leiberty of adding one that I was certain about, Mac D’Allesandro is primarying Steven Lynch in MA-09 for Lynch’s “no” vote on HCR. He’s a strong candidate with the full backing of the SEIU – pistolSO will have more info on Lynch and the other new additions in another diary sometime today.

Emails will go out tomorrow asking our paying members to whittle the list down to four deserving candidates, then another email blast will pick the winner from that subset. If you haven’t joined up, please do, or make a working capital donation on our home page. We don’t ask for a lot of money, it’s as little as $10 per month, so the more members we have, the more clout we’ll wield. By design, over 80% of the money collected goes to candidates – please help support us today!

Peanut Butter PAC is ready for our first donation! And we need your help…

04 May

We don’t have enough members yet to make weekly donations worth very much, but we do have the means to make a $250 award for the month of April, and if anyone joins between now and the actual date we award the money, we’ll add it to the total.

Presently, we have 19 members donating $54 per week – not bad for a small effort by a few Kossacks, blogging and meeting by phone calls and email!  We ask members to make small weekly donations in amout of $2, $3 or $5, or any combination thereof.

Join me over the fold to see our candidate pool…

Membership drive continues…

20 Apr

For the last several weeks, we’ve been writing membership drive diaries at DKos and have been having some small successes – we now have 23 active members contributing almost $50 per week. In order to get to the next level, we are looking for seed money so that we can purchase a Salsa account at wiredforchange.com – if you can spare a few dollars, please contribute using the ActBlueTM or Google CheckoutTM buttons on the left, thanks!

We’ve added ActBlue as a payment processor

18 Mar

Big news – we’ve been accepted at ActBlue and we can now accept credit card payments through them! I’ve added a contribution link in the right hand column of the site – the Google Checkout and ActBlue links over there will allow you to make a donation of working capital to the PAC so that we can get our message out more effectively.

In the coming days I’ll be adding additional ActBlue links so that you can join the weekly donations/awards system.

We’re very excited to be working with ActBlue – this organization has raised over $120 million dollars since coming online in 2004! We need new members, folks – please tell your friends and family about Peanut Buter PAC and help us be more successful through the membership numbers.

Lois Herr
Marcy Winograd
Roxanne Conlin

1. Carol Shea-Porter-NH-1 incumbent.  Bravely voted no to extend the Patriot Act.  Great Congressperson who needs help.  Her campaign site

2. Ryan Bucchianeri-candidate for the PA-12 seat vacated by Jack Murtha.  Naval graduate and a candidate that took questions from Kossacks and MoT not long ago.  That was a great thing for him to do.  His site is here

3. Tom Perriello-VA-5 incumbant.   Not a perfect guy(voted for Stupak  amendment…yuck) but introduced the anti-trust exemption repeal bill and voted No to the Patriot Act.   His Campaign Site

U.S Senate candidates

1. Bill Halter.  AR-Sen candidate. Not a true progressive but a lot better than Blanche Lincoln and he’s a moderate populist and no Blue Dog.   His campaign site

2. Paul Hodes.  Current congressman(NH-2) and NH-Sen candidate.  Endorsed by Gov. Howard Dean M.D.  His campaign site

3. Rodney Glassman-exploring a run for AZ-Sen.   Beating John McCain would be progress.  His exploratory site is here Props to Stranded Wind for this
